The Million Dollar Theater is one of the first movie palaces in the United States. Built by Sid Grauman, it opened in February 1918. The elaborate exterior ornaments were sculpted by Joseph Mora in the Spanish Baroque Revival style.
The auditorium architect was William L. Woollett. The twelve-story tower was designed by Albert C. Martin, Sr. The office building was the original headquarters of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.
